MindanaoToday.com | Filipina Domestic Worker Found Dead in Kuwait
A tragic discovery has shaken the overseas Filipino worker (OFW) community after the remains of Dafnie Nacalaban, a domestic worker who had been missing for two months, were found in the backyard of a Kuwaiti national.
Nacalaban, who had planned to return home in December to surprise her family, was last heard from in May 2024. Her sister, Michael Nacalaban Lensahan, said there were no indications of distress during their last conversation.
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) are coordinating with Kuwaiti authorities to seek justice. According to DMW Secretary Hans Cacdac, Nacalaban’s second employer reported her missing on October 16. Both the family and DMW records showed no prior warnings of danger.
DFA Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega revealed that the remains were discovered after the suspect’s sibling alerted local authorities. The suspect, who has a criminal history, and a relative who allegedly helped conceal the crime are now under investigation.
Authorities assure the public of their commitment to uncovering the truth behind this tragic loss and holding those responsible accountable.
