Authorities have filed murder and frustrated murder charges against a vice mayor from Lanao del Sur and his aide in connection with a shooting incident in Initao, Misamis Oriental on February 16 that left one woman dead and another injured.
Police said the attack was allegedly driven by a personal motive. Investigators revealed that the surviving victim positively identified the local official as the supposed gunman.
The charges were confirmed by Police Regional Office 10 (PRO-10) Regional Director Christopher Abrahano during a press briefing held at Camp Alagar in Cagayan de Oro City on Monday, March 2.
Authorities said they are currently awaiting the issuance of arrest warrants before taking the suspects into custody. The identities of the accused will be formally disclosed once they are arrested.
