ZAMBOANGA CITY — Police arrested two high-value individuals (HVIs) and seized around PHP13.6 million worth of shabu in a buy-bust here Friday night.
Lt. Col. Abell Laborte, officer-in-charge of the Philippine National Police – Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit-Zamboanga Peninsula, reported that suspects alias “Ungod,” 45, and alias “Choy,” 23, residents of Barangay Baliwasan and Barangay San Roque, respectively, were caught around 10:30 p.m. near a laundry shop in Baliwasan.
A third cohort, identified as alias “Marsata,” managed to escape and is the subject of a follow-up operation.
Confiscated from the two were two kilos of suspected shabu, marked money, several identification cards and a mobile phone.
They are now detained for violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Police said the PHP13.6-million haul is the city’s biggest drug bust this month.
