SHARIFF AGUAK, Maguindanao del Sur – Mayor Akmad Mitra Ampatuan offered Tuesday a PHP150,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of two assailants who shot dead a delivery driver in a highway robbery in Barangay Timbangan here.
In an online post, the mayor said the bounty intends to accelerate the investigation of Monday’s incident that also left two others in the vehicle wounded.
Col. Ryan Bobby Paloma, Maguindanao del Sur police provincial director, said a manhunt is ongoing against the armed duo who shot dead delivery van driver Ray Balmores, of Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte.
He said the victims were heading to Cotabato City from Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao del Sur, where they delivered ice cream supplies when the highway robbery transpired in Timbangan village.
The two motorcycle-riding attackers shot Balmores and grabbed the bag beside him containing the group’s cash collection.
Balmores died on the spot. The helpers of the freezer van were also injured. They were identified as Harris Ampatuan of Shariff Aguak and Reymond Bajas of Masbate City.
Ampatuan urged the police to prevent similar incidents in the future within the municipality. (PNA)
