Authorities in Bukidnon confiscated an estimated P5.6 million worth of illegal cigarettes after intercepting two trucks along Diversion Road in Barangay Patpat, Malaybalay City, around 5 p.m.
Personnel from HPG-Bukidnon, RHPU-10, the Malaybalay City Police Station, and CIDG-Bukidnon flagged down the vehicles, which led to the arrest of four men identified as Al, 25; Rahim, 43; Romar, 33; and Amid, 26. They faced charges for violating RA 10643 or the Graphic Health Warnings Law.
Initial findings showed that the cigarettes were transported from Lanao del Norte and were bound for Tagum City, Davao del Norte. All seized items were turned over to the Bureau of Customs office in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, for proper processing.
Authorities continued their investigation into the smuggling operation and urged the public to report any information related to illicit trade as part of the government’s efforts to combat smuggling and protect government revenue.
