COTABATO CITY – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua on Monday called on all elected officials under the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) to prioritize the people, reminding them that “faith and accountability are the core hallmarks of leadership.”
UBJP, the political party of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), secured most of the elected positions in Maguindanao del Sur and Maguindanao del Norte in last month’s local elections.
During a mass oath-taking ceremony at the BARMM government center here, Macacua reminded the newly elected officials of the essence of true leadership within the framework of moral governance in the region.
“True leadership is not about power; it is about trust, responsibility,” Macacua emphasized. “It’s the heart, the sacrifice, and how well you still listen to your people when the applause fades and the real work begins.”
He noted that the oath-taking is both a ceremonial act and a celebration of a renewed commitment to a shared dream for a better Bangsamoro region.
“It symbolizes unity amidst the diversity of the Bangsamoro people; we are one BARMM and must act like one family,” he told the local officials, who included Maguindanao del Norte Governor-elect Datu Tocao Mastura and Maguindanao del Sur Governor-elect Datu Ali Midtimbang.
Macacua, who advocated for the first-ever parliamentary elections in October, stressed that being a leader in BARMM means fostering development that uplifts and peace that endures. (PNA)
