ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police apprehended two high-profile male drug couriers and seized an estimated PHP5.78 million worth of suspected shabu in an anti-drug operation here Sunday night.
Brig. Gen. Bowenn Joey Masauding, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula (PRO-9) director, said Monday the suspects, aged 63 and 48, are residents of Sta. Barbara and Zone 4 villages, respectively.
They were arrested during a buy-bust at around 7:30 p.m. in Barangay Sta. Catalina.
Authorities confiscated approximately 850 grams of suspected shabu packed in transparent plastic sachets, along with the boodle money used during the sting operation.
The Regional Drug Enforcement Unit-9 led the operation, with support from local police units and the Naval Intelligence Security Group-Western Mindanao.
In a separate operation on Saturday afternoon, police arrested two suspects in Barangay Arena Blanco, seizing PHP442,000 worth of suspected shabu.
Lt. Col. Helen Galvez, PRO-9 information officer, said the arrested individuals were a 35-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, both unemployed. (PNA)
