MANILA, Philippines — Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV and members of The Silent Majority have filed another complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte, accusing her of plunder and other offenses linked to confidential funds she handled as DepEd secretary and Davao City mayor.
The new filing repeats many allegations raised in a December 2025 complaint, adding claims that Duterte supposedly received money from an individual tied to the drug trade—an accusation the Vice President’s camp has repeatedly dismissed as “baseless.”
The complaint lists 23 alleged irregularities, including procurement issues, audit disallowances, and questions on undeclared assets. It also cites Duterte’s remarks during a 2024 press briefing and the construction of 192 classrooms during her DepEd tenure.
While Duterte has not released a new statement, her camp has previously said that Trillanes’ accusations are mostly recycled and rely on testimonies whose credibility has been publicly challenged. Supporters note that many of the issues were already discussed in congressional hearings where Duterte appeared and answered questions.
Trillanes’ group also urged the Ombudsman to recommend Duterte’s impeachment—despite the Supreme Court ruling that earlier impeachment attempts against her violated constitutional rules.
The Ombudsman will determine whether the new complaint merits further investigation. Political observers say the renewed filing reflects ongoing tensions ahead of future political battles.
