CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Police Regional Office in Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) reported on Tuesday the confiscation of PHP29.6 million worth of illegal drugs and PHP38.9 million worth of smuggled cigarettes in January.
PRO-10 Director Brig. Gen. Jaysen de Guzman said the operations also led to the arrest of 509 drug suspects, smugglers and other law offenders.
“Each successful operation is a testament to our unwavering commitment to combat crime and ensure the safety and well-being of the people of Northern Mindanao,” De Guzman said in a news release.
In anti-illegal drug operations, PRO-10 units seized 4,353.3 grams of shabu. Additionally, 14 operations against illegal gambling resulted in the arrest of 46 suspects and the confiscation of PHP23,516 worth of gambling paraphernalia.
The regional police arrested 178 individuals on its wanted list, including 40 classified as most wanted.
Under Operation “Kontra Boga,” PRO-10 conducted 35 operations against loose firearms, apprehending 14 suspects and seizing 34 assorted guns.
In the crackdown on smuggled cigarettes, PRO-10 carried out 26 operations, arresting 30 suspects and confiscating PHP38.9 million worth of contraband. (PNA)
