CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Three influential organizations of business owners here have requested the city government for an extension of this year’s business permit renewal deadline to March 30 instead of January 20 to provide them “necessary relief in light of current challenges.”
The letter, addressed to City Mayor Rolando A. Uy that was delivered on Wednesday, January 14 to his office, cited cash-flow constraints, increases in real property tax, new daily minimum wage rates, and the slower-than-expected sales performance in 2025 as compelling reasons for the appeal for deadline resetting.

“An extended (business permit) renewal period would help alleviate bottlenecks, reduce penalties, and ensure timely compliance, without compromising the city’s governance standards,” a portion of the petition reads. The three business chambers assert that given enough time would “reinforce confidence among investors and workers.”
They also commended the city chief executive’s leadership in promoting an environment conducive to business and support to entrepreneurs, among which include the institutionalization of the Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) and E-Business Permit online processing.
Aside from the morning’s 8 a.m. to 12 noon and afternoon’s 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. usual office hours, that started on January 5, this year, the BOSS extends the processing of business permit renewal until 7 p.m. It also utilized Saturday and Sunday (January 17 and 18) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the same purpose.
The City Information Office reported that about 30,000 establishments are expected to apply for business permit renewal, thus the City Finance Department personnel particularly its Business Permit and Licensing Division need to process some 2,000 applications every day.
To speed up the processing, the E-Business Permit was introduced where applicants could have their business permit renewal. This can be done by following six (6) steps: Step 1 Go to the website https://citytreasurer.cagayandeoro.gov.ph and click on Payment; Step 2 click on Renew Business Permit; Step 3 fill out details of last year’s business permit and click Get Bill and Proceed to payment; Step 4 fill out and check your details needed then click Proceed; Step 5 check your details and click Pay Bill; and Step 6 select your mode of payment.
The applicant is then advised to take a screenshot of the acknowledgment of successful payment. Send the screenshot and copy of billing via email citytreasurer.cdoc@gmail.com. Then the E-Business Permit would be available within two to three days through the email provided by the applicant.
Of the three, the Oro Chamber that was organized four decades ago has a roster of member-business establishments of about 420, as of the December 2025. It is predominantly composed of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises. (Uriel Quilinguing)
