MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL — The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) in Misamis Occidental distributed Agricultural Grade Salt Fertilizers (AGSF) to coconut farmers across the province on May 12, 15, and 19.
Under the program, coconut farmers received four bags of AGSF for every hectare of coconut land. The fertilizer is recommended for full-bearing coconut trees to help improve nut production and copra thickness.
PCA Misamis Occidental Acting Division Chief Crispin Gamboa said the intervention aims to support farm productivity and farmer income while improving soil condition.
“Its affordability and accessibility make it particularly beneficial for smallholder coconut farmers, ensuring that government support translates into tangible improvements in farm output and livelihood,” Gamboa said.
PCA agriculturists and coconut development officers also conducted information sessions on the proper application of AGSF, including its role in nut production, copra quality, and soil management.
The PCA said the activity forms part of its efforts to support coconut farmers through agricultural interventions and farming practices.
“Together, we reaffirm our dedication to advancing agricultural development, farmer welfare, and the long-term resilience of the coconut industry in Misamis Occidental,” Gamboa added.
The distribution was conducted in coordination with the City and Municipal Agriculture Offices, local government units, and the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental. (JMOR/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
