INITAO, Misamis Oriental — A new Tourist Rest Area (TRA) was officially opened in Barangay Jampason, Initao, becoming the second facility of its kind in Misamis Oriental.
The facility received funding of more than ₱10 million from the Department of Tourism (DOT) and was formally turned over by DOT Region 10 Regional Director May Salvaña-Unchuan, Deputy Speaker and Misamis Oriental 2nd District Representative Yevgeny Vincente B. Emano, representatives of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), and officials of the Initao Local Government Unit (LGU).
The facility was designed to provide motorists, tourists, and other travelers with a convenient place to rest while promoting tourism and local economic activity in the province.
Various local products from different LGUs across Misamis Oriental were displayed at the TRA, providing local producers and entrepreneurs with an opportunity to showcase their goods to visitors. The initiative also supported efforts to promote local products and create livelihood opportunities for communities.
Among the facility’s amenities were a charging area, comfort rooms, and a lactation room, providing essential services for travelers, including families with infants.
The TRA program of the DOT and TIEZA aims to improve the travel experience by providing basic amenities while promoting local culture, products, and tourism destinations. Local government units are responsible for the facilities’ day-to-day operations and maintenance following their turnover.
