Northern Mindanao harvested five awards at the inaugural Philippine Tourism Awards at Okada Manila on Monday, September 8, 2025, showcasing the region’s “Limitless Adventures” and excellence in tourism.
Mantigue Island of the provincial government of Camiguin was named Best Eco-Tourism Destination, highlighting its pristine beauty and sustainable practices.
Chali Beach Resort and Conference Center, De Luxe Hotel, and the VIP Hotel, all located in Cagayan de Oro, were honored under the Tourism Pillar Awards for Enterprises for their vital role in sustaining the Philippine tourism industry.
“These establishments have played pivotal roles in shaping the tourism sector, contributing significantly to its growth and success over the decades,” a press statement from the Department of Tourism 10 reads.
Rounding out the region’s wins, the Professional Organizers Unlimited Inc. received the Philippine Tourism Excellence Award for MICE Organizer, further solidifying Northern Mindanao’s reputation as a premier destination for business and leisure. MICE stands for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions.
Regional Director Marie Elaine S. Unchuan and Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Rheta Mae Eblamo of DOT 10 witnessed the region’s milestones with national and international significance.
“These achievements not only celebrate Northern Mindanao’s rich tourism offerings but also reaffirm its contribution to the national campaign to Love the Philippines,” Unchuan said. (Uriel Quilinguing)
