MARAWI CITY – Bangsamoro Government’s Chief Minister Ahod “Al Haj Murad” Ebrahim shared the significant progress in the education sector in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) over the past six years.
As the region celebrates its 6th founding anniversary, Ebrahim outlined key achievements, including the enrolment of 1,084,284 students in K-12 and Alternative Learning Systems (ALS) for the 2023–2024 school year.
“These initiatives ensure that education reaches even the most underserved communities, bridging gaps and creating pathways to success,” Ebrahim stated.
These achievements are supported by programs like the Access to Higher and Modern Education Scholarships Program (AHME-SP) and Angat Bangsamoro: Kabataan Tungo sa Karunungan (ABaKa). The AHME program offers financial aid of P60,000 per year or P30,000 per semester to beneficiaries, who include decommissioned combatants, Indigenous Peoples (IPs), informal sector workers, senior citizens, and disaster-affected communities.
Ebrahim also highlighted the success of the region’s Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs, with 122,793 graduates from 2019 to November 2024 joining the workforce, equipped with skills to support regional development.
The Bangsamoro Government also provided 1,132 undergraduate scholarships and 125 postgraduate grants through the Bangsamoro Assistance for Science Education (BASE) and BASE-Merit Program to encourage science education and innovation in the region.
The Chief Minister emphasized that education plays a critical role in driving sustainable development and innovation in the Bangsamoro region.
