MANTICAO, Misamis Oriental — The Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of Manticao passed resolutions on Aug. 11 recognizing the efforts of the municipal police and the Rural Health Unit’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health (DRRM-H) team.
One resolution commended the Manticao Municipal Police Station (MPS), led by Police Capt. Shiela U. Gamolo, for its operations, including the interception of smuggled cigarettes in June. Under Gamolo’s leadership, the police also increased service-related activities and public advocacy efforts.
Gamolo expressed gratitude to the SB for the recognition of the June operation, which led to the seizure of undocumented cigarettes valued at P20 million.
“We are truly honored by such recognition of the diligence, professionalism and dedication of our police personnel. The commendation not only uplifts the morale of our law enforcement officers but also reinforces our shared commitment to maintaining peace, security and the rule of law within the municipality,” Gamolo said.

She said the police will continue working with the local government to serve and protect the community and uphold public order.
The council passed a separate resolution commending the DRRM-H unit for winning the 2025 Regional Benchmarking Rescue Olympics held July 15–18 in Cagayan de Oro City. The event included 11 teams from hospitals, rural health units and city health offices, and featured assessments in emergency response through static displays and a mass casualty incident simulation.
“Their courage, skills, and dedication to service have brought great pride to our town of Manticao. They are an inspiration to all frontliners and to the people who witness their efforts,” said Councilor Miko P. Lagrosas, chair of the SB Committee on DRRM.
Lagrosas said the team’s performance reflected not only individual effort but collective success by the community they represent. (SAYU/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
