MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA) — Governor Juliette T. Uy pledged to improve government services and maintain accountability during the presentation of the 2026 Governor’s Report at the opening of the province’s 96th Founding Anniversary and the 13th Kuyamis Festival at the Provincial Capitol, January 7.
Uy said her goal is for residents to feel the presence of government. “Klaro, matarong, ug adunay tinuod nga resulta ang atong ihatag na serbisyo sa atong katawhan sa Misamis Oriental. Atong tumong na masinatian ninyo mga Misamisnon nga ang gobyerno, local government, muduol, mutabang sa mga katauhan,” she said.

Reflecting on her first six months in office, Uy outlined her vision for the province and said public service and accountability guide her work. “We will make Misamis Oriental a better place to live in,” she said.
Uy, who chairs the social development committee of the Regional Development Council in Northern Mindanao, reported improvements at the Provincial Satellite Office in Gingoog City, which allows residents of nearby towns to access services without traveling to Cagayan de Oro City. She also discussed the rollout of Uma sa Balay (House Farming), a program that trains residents in backyard gardening using different approaches and technologies.
The provincial government also provided abaca tissue culture equipment to farmers through partnerships with the Department of Agriculture and the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority. It further carried out road rehabilitation in remote barangays in several municipalities.
In health care, Uy cited PhilHealth’s Yaman ng Kalusugan program, the distribution of medicines to the eight Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospitals, facility improvements, additional medical personnel, and the establishment of pharmacies. She also revealed plans for dialysis centers in the provincial hospitals.
Uy acknowledged challenges when she assumed office, which she said were addressed through collaboration among government institutions, local officials, and national agencies.
“Sa atong pagatubang sa mga hagit, sa atong pagpadayon nga pagpaningkamot, matinudanon nga pag-alagad sa katauhan ang atong direksyon. Subay sa atong baruganan nga ang serbisyo kinahanglan naay dignidad ug naay gugma sa tanan,” she said.

Uy reiterated that her administration prioritizes the proper and equitable use of provincial funds, particularly for sectors most in need. She said discipline, transparency, and dignity in leadership will continue to guide her governance.
Other accomplishments included the apprehension of illegal mining operations and P36 million in revenue from sand and gravel collections over the past six months.
For youth programs, Iskolar ko ng Bayan–Unity grantees receive a P2,000 monthly allowance. The Sangguniang Kabataan received laptops and supplies, and municipalities received provisions for child development facilities. (SAYU/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
