PCOL Al M Abanales, Provincial Director of the Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office, was invited as the Guest Speaker during the Internship Completion Ceremony of the School of Criminology of PHINMA–Cagayan de Oro College, escorted by Dr. Gerry J Caño, Dean of the School of Criminology-Phinma COC, held at Limketkai Atrium, Cagayan de Oro City on April 21, 2026.
During the event, PCOL Abanales shared that he, too, was once a student in the said institution who aspired to serve, reminding the interns that every professional journey begins with humble beginnings and a strong determination to succeed.
He also shared his experiences in the field of law enforcement, emphasizing that true success in the profession is not measured by rank or recognition, but by integrity, discipline, and the consistent performance of one’s duties. He encouraged the interns to uphold the values of service, accountability, and dedication as they begin their journey in the field of criminology.
He further reminded the interns that challenges and risks are inherent in the profession, but with courage, commitment, and a strong sense of responsibility to the community, they can make a meaningful impact. His message highlighted that beyond knowledge and skills, it is one’s actions and character that define a lasting legacy in public service.
