CAGAYAN De Oro City – The local football governing body, the Camiguin Misamis Oriental Regional Football Association (CMORFA) will have a busy year-ender for 2024.

CMORFA, under President Mike Batiles has sanctioned five tournaments under the CMORFA areas, plus an election of the new board members during the local congress of members next month.

Year-ender tournaments lined up for local football fans are the 11-Aside tournaments, the Vincere Cup at the MGV Field in Carmen, and the Xavier Crusaders Football D-League at Xavier University’s downtown main campus.

The other three tournaments are for age group players. They are CMORFA 9-Aside tournament set at the Xavier University Uptown campus, the ‘Mac-Mac’ Tan 1st Polytech Steel Trading Football Festival on Dec. 7-8 at the El Salvador Sports Complex and the FFF Girl Power Futsal Cup on Dec. 21-22 at the Bulua National High School gym.

First to kick off is the Vincere Cup 11-Aside of Magis Football Club of coach Don Deriquito, which will kick off on Oct. 27. The tournament will run until Dec. 8 and will be for Boys 12 Under, Boys 17 Under, Women’s Open and Men’s Open.

Teams joining in the Boys 12 Under are Magis FC, Bukidnon Faith (Valencia, Bukidnon), Plantation FC (Camp Philips), Higala FC, Corpus Christi FC, Uptown CDO FC, XUGS, and Usna Gali FC while in the Boys 17 Under teams joining are Magis FC, Bukidnon Faith FC, Higala FC, Corpus Christi, Holy Cross (Camp Phillips), XUHS, and Diamond FC.

XUMFT. Coach Ivan Caina will organize the Xavier Crusaders Football D-League 11-Aside tournament for Men’s Open teams starting on Nov. 9, 16, and 24 at the XU downtown campus field.

In the Women’s Open participating teams are Magis FC, XUWFT, Higala FC, and Diamond Hillsiders while in the Men’s Open, teams joining are Magis FC, Dabdab FC (Camp Phillips), USNA Gali FC (Camp Phillips), Monte Carlo FC, Diamond Hillsiders FC, Alpha Sports Lab, AV777(camp Phillips) and Higala FC.

All matches in the Vincere Cup are scheduled on Sundays, while on Saturdays starting Nov. 9, 16 and 24 Golden City Football Club of coach Ivan Caina has lined up the Xavier Crusaders Football D-League 11-Aside tournament for Men’s Open teams.

Four teams are entered in the tournament. They are host and defending champions Xavier University Men’s Football Varsity Team, Golden City FC, U19 Development Squad-CdO Risers, and guest out-of-town team Iligan Institute of Technology.

This tournament will be a single round-robin with the top two teams playing in the championship. The tournament is designed to prepare the XUMT for their campaigns next semester, especially the Jesuits Athletic Meet for college students where top teams from Jesuits-run schools from all over the country will compete.

VINCERE CUP. Magic FC President Don Derequito is organizing the biggest 11-Aside tournament in the city, which will kick off on Oct. 27 and will run until Dec. 8 at the MGV field in Carmen.

CMORFA then set the CMORFA Inter Club tournament for Boys and Girls U12 (2012) and Boys ang Girls U16 (2008) on Nov. 30 and Dec. 7.

On Dec. 7-8, El Salvador town Misamis Oriental will then host the ‘Mac-Mac’ Tan 1st Polytech Steel Trading Football Festival on Dec. 7-8 at the El Salvador Sports Complex. Competitions will be for the U8 Mixed, U10 Mixed, U14 Boys, U16 Boys, U16 Girls on Dec. 7. On day two on Dec. 8, competitions will be for U19 Boys, Above 35, Above 45, Men’s Open, and Women’s Open.

Bulua Strikers FC and the Lumbia Raptors FC will end the year on a high note as they organize the Friend of Female Footballers (FFF) ‘Girl Power’ Futsal Cup on Dec. 21-22 at the Bulua National High School gym. The tournament is for Girls 17, Girls 15, Girls 13, and Girls 11 on Dec. 21 while on Dec. 22 competition will be for the Women’s Open, Girls 18, Girls 16, Girls 14 and Girls 12.

Five out-of-town clubs have already signed up for the competition in the different categories. They are the Rizal Memorial College Heaven of Davao, Sta. Maria Tigers FC from Davao Occidental, University of San Carlos SLG from Cebu City, and Hermosuros de Zamboanga from Zamboanga City.

The tournament is organized to spread awareness to young girls to fight teen pregnancy in Cagayan de Oro City and the province of Misamis Oriental.

Meanwhile, CMORFA President Mike Batiles said he will schedule the member’s congress for next month. The members will seek a new mandate for new board members. The board will then elect a new set of officers. (jackbiantantambok@gmail.com)
